October Meeting Summary

It was fun.

Craig shared his story of fighting against cheaters and it was eye opening. There are lots of cheaters out there and it’s impossible to fight against them with technology alone. The best solution he provided is to track every action of the player and moderate it if the score is too high or suspicious.

For the presentation on Box2D, you can download the slides and source code here. Craig also mentioned CDK(Collision Detection Kit), a much easier package for collision handling, which makes much more sense to designers. Happy exploring!

I have used the CDK before and was not too impressed with its collision detection. It’s more of a “pseudo physics” engine. Box2D is a little more difficult to learn but the end result is much better.
